As a part of the International Centre of Art for Social Change’s (ICASC) FUTURES/forward Artist in Residence program I worked with youth from the Alberta Council for Environmental Education to create this video. The youth, from grades 7 to 12, created a vision for their school for the year 2030 that includes more environmental and climate change education. We had weekly online workshops for 3 months where the youth built their vision, wrote the script, made the art and narrated each scene. I pulled it all together in this stop motion video. I wrote more about my experience in this blog post for ICASC.
People on the Path is a collaborative art installation that I co-facilitated as an organizer with Climate Justice Edmonton. The project consists of 8 foot tall painted portraits of over 20 people that call Treaty 6, 7, and 8 (Alberta) home, who each shared their hopes and desires for a just and sustainable future. Over 50 people contributed to the project in many different ways including outreach, painting, construction and promotion. Over 25 people contributed specifically to painting the portraits.
People on the Path strives to create a new narrative for Alberta: one that upholds Indigenous rights, puts workers first, and honours our obligations to the land and to each other.
I wrote about People on the Path in my contribution to the Feminist Adult Educators’ Guide to Aesthetic, Creative and Disruptive Strategies In Museums And Community. Pages 130-137.

I collaboratively produced Resist and (Re)Build: Organize with Us with Caitlin Chan, Anna Gerrard and Emily Thiessen. Resist and (Re)Build: Organize with Us was created specifically for Wasteland: A Climate Anxiety Haunted House and is a participatory installation that offers viewers a way to channel their climate anxiety into action. Painted sculptures and signs invite viewers to reflect on and then share the actions they can individually take as part of a collective efforts to both dismantle the unjust systems that perpetuate climate change, and then rebuild a world that works for everyone.
University 101 Collaborative Mural
2019
Open Windows and Locked Doors explores the opportunities, supports, barriers, and challenges that students face in post-secondary education. The mural also shares a positive vision of what university life could be like for current students and future generations.
I facilitated this collaborative project with University 101 Leadership volunteers, staff and work study students at the University of Victoria.
